Ramadan on Snapchat looks different this year and users are looking for new ways to stay connected.

Inspired by the cultural, architectural and symbolic heritage found during Ramadan, we created a system depicting traditional items.

The Concept

To show that Snapchat users can remain connected and engaged with friends & original content during Ramadan, we created a flexible visual system that allows partners to quickly adapt materials to their own personal use cases.

We set out to create a vibrant system that moves beyond the surface of traditional clichés and is rooted in the now—one that respects and highlights traditions and cultural aspects, but also digs into rich traditions from multiple angles.

14 unique playful and geometric icons represent objects like lanterns and widely recognized architectural forms—doorways, arches, etc.

From the same idea of geometric shapes and compositions, we created a custom variable logotype which can be stacked and layered for various applications.

In addition to these materials for OLV and presentation purposes, we created unique, tangible pieces for future in-person events that stretched these elements into practical use cases.
